WHO WE ARE

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Church of the Holy Spirit’s core beliefs are firmly planted in the mainstream of historic Anglican thought and practice. We are Trinitarian, Protestant, and Reformed.

BELIEFS

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life: No one comes to the Father but by Him.

The Holy Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, containing all things necessary for salvation, and to be the final authority and unchangeable standard for Christian faith and life.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Eucharist) are the Sacraments ordained by Christ Himself in the Gospel, and thus are to be ministered with unfailing use of His words of institution and of the elements ordained by Him.

The historic faith of the undivided church as declared in the three major creeds: the Apostles’, the Nicene, and the Athanasian Creeds.

We receive The Book of Common Prayer as set forth by the Church of England in 1662, together with the Ordinal attached to the same, as a standard for Anglican doctrine and discipline, and, with the Books which preceded it, as the standard for the Anglican tradition of worship.

We receive the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion of 1571, taken in their literal and grammatical sense, as expressing the Anglican response to certain doctrinal issues controverted at that time, and as expressing the fundamental principles of authentic Anglican belief.

 OUR MINISTRIES

OUR VISION

We're an Anglican congregation rooted in the historic Christian faith—the faith of the apostles, the creeds, and the Scriptures. But we're also a community of real people navigating real life in Roanoke. The vision of Church of the Holy Spirit is to be healthy disciples that make healthy disciples.

The things that we believe will help us to be healthy disciples are:

GROW

Healthy disciples grow. We grow spiritually but truthfully, it’s not all about us…we also grow God’s kingdom. OUR MINISTRIES

GATHER

Healthy disciples regularly gather for corporate worship and fellowship. We encounter God through his Word together and submit our lives to its teaching.

GIFTS

Healthy Christians use their God-given gifts to serve God and others. It is a great joy to use our spiritual gifts.

GENEROSITY

Healthy disciples have open hands; they realize that God owns everything and that we steward His resources. We joyfully give generously of our time, talents, and treasure to God and others. GIVE NOW

GROUPS

Healthy disciples are in community. They make the effort to be in intimate fellowship with other Christiansin small groups where life is shared authentically. To learn more about LifeGroups, GET IN TOUCH.
