DaVE SLOOP

Lead Pastor

Dave became our Lead Pastor in 2025 and serves as one of our primary teachers on Sunday mornings. His passion is to communicate God’s Word in a way that engages both the mature believer and the seeking skeptic. Alongside our Chief of Staff, Dave co-leads and guides the CHS staff. In 2024, Dave originally joined our team as Minister of Leadership & Vision.

Before sensing God’s call back into full time ministry, Dave spent a number of years as a full-time real estate investor and business owner. Prior to that, he spent nearly two decades as an Area and Regional Director for Young Life in the state of Virginia. A life-long learner, Dave loves to read and try new things. Dave married his wife, Melissa, in 2007 and together they have three beautiful daughters–Sydney, Libby, and Claire.

TIM HENDERSON

Executive Teaching Pastor

Tim has been on staff since 2015 and he serves as the Executive Teaching Pastor. His passion is teaching God’s Word–which he frequently gets to do in multiple venues each week; preaching, leading a Sunday School class, and directing Feast (CHS’s 20-somethings ministry). Alongside our Senior Pastor, Tim leads and guides the staff and CHS as a whole. In addition to his work at CHS, Tim is the director of Blue Ridge Fellows, an independent leadership development ministry he founded with his wife, Kellie. Prior to joining CHS, Tim and Kellie served on staff with Cru (West Chester University and Penn State) for over 20 years, and as Vice President with Christian Union.

Since graduating from James Madison University, Tim and Kellie have spent decades preparing men and women in their early 20’s to walk with Jesus for a lifetime. They love the hundreds of students and professionals they’ve led to faith, discipled, taught, and learned from. Tim and Kellie have four adult children–Benjamin, Silas, Max, and Sadie.

BRIAN MORGAN

Pastor of Administration

Brian is our Pastor of Administration and he joined the CHS staff in 2017. Brian has a passion for small group discipleship. That passion, paired with his desire to do all he can to help every person grow into a healthy disciple of Jesus Christ, allows Brian to serve well the adults at CHS through Life Groups, Prayer Teams, New Member’s Ministry, Foundations, and Men’s Ministry.

When Brian is not in the office, you may find him eating humble pie as he bike rides up Mill Mountain, eating Five Guys with a ministry leaders, or catching trees while trying to fly fish on the Roanoke River. Brian and his wife, Beth, have two children–Hannah and Noah.

BARBARA MURRAY

Deacon

Barbara joined the CHS staff in 2002 working with Adult Ministries. In 2008, she was called into ordained ministry to serve as a deacon. Barbara is passionate about loving Jesus and serving people. Her role at CHS allows her to oversee pastoral care and she faithfully visits widows, shut-ins, and the sick. In addition, Barbara provides Sunday Worship Support, and she co-leads CHS’s Prayer Ministry.

Barbara was born in the midwest (WI) but moved to the south for high school and college. She met and married her husband, Steve, while living in Charlotte, SC after graduating from the University of South Carolina. Fiercely competitive, Barbara is a former scratch golfer whose current athletic pursuits include basketball, golf, snow skiing, sailing, and triathlons. Steve and Barbara have two adult daughters, Elizabeth (married to David) and Madeline (married to Scott), and three grandsons–Dean, Briggs, and Everett.

BOB BLECKSMITH

Deacon

Bob and his wife, Teresa, initially attended CHS in the early 2000’s while visiting their daughter and CHS member, Sarah Rachel Janney, and her family. While remaining frequent visitors over the next decade, Bob and Teresa saw the love and commitment of the people of CHS. Five years after retirement from a 28-year career in the FBI, Bob and Teresa moved to Roanoke in 2018 and became members of CHS. Since joining, both Bob and Teresa have served on the Vestry. During Bob’s term, he served as both Junior and Senior Warden.

Bob and Teresa have been active in ministry at CHS serving as lay Eucharistic Ministers, and Chalice Ministers (among others ministries and teams). Bob has since followed the nudging of the Holy Spirit to serve the Lord and the CHS family as a Deacon and he was ordained in July of 2024. He considers it a joy and privilege to assists our pastors, priests, staff, and congregation in whatever way possible.

Bob and Teresa have four adult daughters–Sarah Rachel, Anne, Elizabeth, and Becky.

MINISTRY LEADERS

BETH ANN FREISLEBEN

Children’s Ministry Director

Beth Ann has served as the Children’s Ministry Director since XXXX after serving as the Assistant Director for over a decade. Beth Ann takes great pride and enjoyment in supporting families of CHS in this ever-growing ministry!

She married her husband, Roger, (whom she met on a blind date) in Uganda, Africa during a mission trip. After the birth of their two sons, Owen and Ryan, they moved their mission field closer to home. Beth Ann and Roger have supported families both CHS and at their home church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by serving in Life Group leadership. HARRISON DINSBEER

Student Ministry Director

Harrison joined the staff at CHS in 2023 as the Student Ministry Director. He loves to share the good news of God’s favor with middle school and high school students and he loves to help volunteers do the same. Harrison came to CHS through Blue Ridge Fellows, a leadership-development ministry led by Tim and Kellie Henderson. During and after the Fellows program, Harrison worked as a chaplain at the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, where he oversaw the chapel ministry and built relationships among Roanoke’s homeless population.

Harrison is studying linguistics online at Dallas International University in hopes of becoming a Bible translator for a community that doesn’t yet have the Scriptures in their native language. It would be his utmost privilege to help get God’s word into the hands of people who don’t yet know its sweetness.

COLE MASSEY

Worship Director

Cole joined the CHS staff as our Worship Director in 2024. He began leading worship at a Bible study held in his dad’s living room as a teenager. Cole grew up attending CHS and it’s various church plants (Orchard Hill and Restoration Church. He’s passionate about the CHS community and helping people encounter the Holy Spirit through music.

Outside of his work at CHS, Cole is a financial advisor. He and his wife, Emily, have a son (Shepherd) and a daughter (Miller).

ERIN LOVE

Women’s Ministry Director

Erin has been a member at CHS since 2011 and joined the CHS staff in 2020 as the Director of Women’s Ministry. Erin started her family in Phoenix, AZ and returned to Roanoke in 2011 when she began her ministry career with Young Life Roanoke Valley and Young Life Bristol. Natalie Schneider

Children’s Ministry

No stranger to CHS, Natalie is honored to serve her church family assisting in the Children’s Ministry. She has always had a heart for children–helping lead Vacation Bible School (VBS) from an early age, working as a highly sought-after babysitter, and being a big sister. Considering her own testimony, Natalie is passionate about introducing kids to Jesus, teaching them Scripture, and empowering them be emissaries of the Kingdom. While Natalie gets to know and love all the CHS children, her focus area is Club 56–the CHS ministry to preteens (5th and 6th graders).

ERICA MOSELEY

Student Ministry

Erica Moseley has been involved in youth ministry for 25 years. Prior to joining the staff at CHS, she worked with Young Life–she loves being with middle school and high school students and sharing how God is real and personal in their lives.

Erica was born and raised in Ohio and earned a teaching degree from Miami University (OH). Erica and her husband, Adam, have three children who are highly involved at CHS. Erica and her family love living in the Blue Ridge Mountains and can usually be found mountain biking, snowboarding, sailing, or driving around in their 1999 limousine.

CALEB MEYER

Technical Director

Caleb joined the CHS staff in 2022 and he works directly with our Worship Directors to oversee the Audio/Visual department at CHS. Caleb serves our staff and congregation by ensuring all audio/visual elements and the livestream for the CHS services are running smoothly and effectively.

Caleb studied Audio Engineering and Music Production and is now a student of the world of film/video production. His passion for music and cinema is what led him into the A/V world. He applies this at CHS by helping to create inspiring YouTube videos, releasing professional music, and always looking to improve the quality of our church broadcast.

When he’s not mixing audio at CHS (among many other things) you can find him on the soccer field, at a local music venue, or getting lost on a dirt road on the top of a mountain.

STEVE HENDERSON

Choir

Steve was born and raised in Roanoke and as never met a stranger he’s not happy to share the love of Jesus with. He currently directs the choir at CHS. He and his wife, Linda, believe in the Word, teach the Word, stand on the Word, live by the Word and obey the Word of God! His prayer for all people is to be saved, love Jesus, live for Him and serve Him with all their heart.

Steve is a vocalist, he plays the bass guitar, and has recorded three gospel albums. Steve’s extensive musical talent is paired with his license to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ that he received in 2002.

Michelle Honaker

Nursery Manager

Michelle has been on the CHS Children’s Ministry team for many years and is now the Nursery Manager. She finds it a great privilege to get to work with a fantastic group of ladies who are devoted to making our Children’s Ministry a place where children, staff, and volunteers feel welcomed and have a sense of belonging to the body of Christ. Michelle had the great blessing of growing up in a Christian home, and she officially dedicated her life to Christ at the age of 10.

Michelle grew up in Botetourt, Virginia, and is married to her high school sweetheart, Brett. They have been blessed with four children. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, having coffee with her friends, and taking or teaching dance fitness.

ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

AMY ALLEN

Accounting & Human Resources

Amy serves as our Accountant and Human Resources. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University in Finance and holds a Master’s Degree from Liberty University in Education. Prior to coming to CHS, Amy served three other churches in accounting and then took an eight-year break to teach 6th graders at a local Christian school. She is excited to be in the field of Accounting and counts it a joy to be able to serve the church.

At the age of 9, Amy realized she was a sinner and needed a Savior. Since then, she has grown in her faith walk and is so thankful for the abundant life we can have in Christ. Amy and her husband, Darin, have three children–Caylie, Garrett, and Chloe. During her free time, Amy enjoys reading, hiking, and playing the piano.

Kurt Russett

Facilities Manager

Kurt joined the staff at CHS in XXXX as the Facilities Manager. When Kurt is not maintaining our campus, he enjoys tending to his family garden–a plot larger than our entire front office!

TERRY CRINER

Administrative Assistant

Terry joined our staff in XXX as an Administrative Assistant. She is the first face that you will see when you walk into our church office. Terry and her husband, Jeff, grew up in the Roanoke County and have lived here their whole lives. Together, they have three adult daughters and one grandson.

When not at work, one of Terry’s greatest passions is music. She is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and offers private piano lessons in her home in Roanoke County.

Laura Vaughan

Administrative Assistant & Deacon

Laura began attending CHS in 2021 and joined the staff in 2025 as an Administrative Assistant. In January 2026, she was ordained as a Deacon and now serves in that role each Sunday, providing support in worship and the broader life of the church. Laura has a genuine love for people and a heart for serving, teaching, and walking alongside others in discipleship.

A Maryland native, Laura's journey has taken her through Wisconsin, Virginia, and even Southeast Asia, where she served as a missionary. She holds a degree in Bible & Missions from Northland International University, which she completed in 2007.

Laura and her husband Michael have been married since 2007 and are the proud parents of two teenage sons, John and Asa. When she's not serving the church, you'll likely find her curled up with a good book, caring for her dogs Scout and Blue, or tending to her small but beloved flock of backyard chickens.

LYNN KIDD

Facilities

Lynn joined the CHS staff in 2010 after being a full-time mom for 13 years. She was born and raised nearby in Floyd, VA.

Lynn attended JMU where she spent many hours participating in CRU campus ministry. It was there that she met her husband, Doug.

Married for over 30 years, Lynn and Doug have three talented daughters and are now empty nesters. In her spare time, Lynn likes to read, work in the yard, take walks, and travel–especially to visit her kids.
