Serving in North Africa
Luke & Abby
Hi! We are Luke and Abby, and we live in North Africa with our young children, serving as DoCH deacons to an unreached people group in this region. This tribe of 3 million people has less than 50 Christians in it, and very little access to the gospel. When we moved from the States in early 2021, we had no idea our overseas adventure would take so many exciting, unexpected, and sometimes harrowing turns! We praise God for churches like CHS Roanoke who have prayed for and supported us through multiple international moves, long visa delays, a military coup, an accidental unassisted homebirth, and a trepidatious rickshaw evacuation after war broke out in our city… all in our first three years on the field! Only by God’s grace and your prayers are we still here. Nowadays, we are engaged in language study and relationship building, sharing the Good News with a key friend from that tribe, serving a local international congregation, and advocating for and supporting the ministry of local Anglicans who also have a heart to minister to this tribe. We would love to have you join our prayer team!!
Serving in Madang, Papua New Guinea
Tiffany Beachy
Founded in 2019, the Ramu Valley Academy is a private, Christian boarding school in Madang, Papua New Guinea. Our students come from remote jungle villages where missionaries have worked for over 20 years. The long-term goal of this initiative is to train local Papua New Guinean men and women to be strong in character and mind through quality education and personal discipleship. Then they can return to their local communities in order to reach the unreached in places where many westerners are unable or unwilling to go. I joined the team at RVA in 2023 and teach 7-12th grade science to our beloved students. It is a great blessing and privilege to serve the Lord in this way, with these amazing people.
Serving in Cambodia
ZACH & NOELLE
Zach and Noelle have returned to Cambodia after seven years away and are joyfully settling back into ministry life. Since arriving in June, they have stepped into several key roles, including serving as interim directors at the Living Well counseling center and supporting local Anglican congregations through preaching, leadership, and pastoral care. They have also been able to encourage mission workers and Cambodian leaders through retreats, spiritual direction, and counseling. What began as a one-year commitment has become a renewed sense of home, and the Slagels look forward to continuing the work God has placed before them in the “Kingdom of Wonder.”

MARY GIN & JEREMY PALATTAO
Hi CHS family! For the past two months, we’ve been in Kona, Hawaii, part of a leadership cohort with 250+ YWAM leaders from around the world and Darlene Cunningham, YWAM co-founder. It’s been a special time to refocus on who we are as a movement and how we can keep growing back home in the Philippines. Our campus continues to focus on training, evangelism, and mercy ministries, and we’re working closely with churches to see a youth revival that leads to a mission’s movement, sending young Filipinos to the 10/40 Window (areas with the least access to the Gospel). We’ve recently been asked to step into the role of base directors starting next year and are dreaming big, new dorms, more training, and preparing for The Send Philippines in 2026, a massive mission gathering! Our next DTS (Discipleship Training School) launches this fall, and we’re so excited to train and send more missionaries! As a family, we’re doing well. Sage is growing fast, he’s almost crawling, and bringing us so much joy. We’ve been prioritizing our health, getting good rhythms with rest, eating well, and staying rooted in the Word. This season has been healing, refreshing, and full of hope. We’re also trusting God for continued provision, both for our growing campus and for our personal support as we step into greater leadership and vision.
Serving in Jos, Nigeria
ARCHBISHOP BEN & GLORIA KWASHI
Archbishop Ben and Mama Gloria Kwashi are dear friends and partners in the Gospel. They live in Jos, Nigeria, and have suffered much for the sake of the Gospel.
Their main mission for the kingdom is adopting “throw-away babies, infants, and older children.” The children live in their home with the Kwashis and are fed, clothed, educated, disciplined in God’s word, and trained to work hard. It is a glorious glimpse of the kingdom and New Testament generosity.
Ben and Mama lived with the Lawrence family for eight months in 2020 and again for seven months in 2022 while Ben was receiving cancer treatment. Thanks be to God, and many medical folks in our church, after two occurrences cancer, Ben is now cancer-free.

THE MCLaughlin Family
The McLaughlin family is made up of Will and Becky, Liam, Reese, Finn, and Lizzie. They currently live in Phnom Penh Cambodia. Before moving to Cambodia, they called Roanoke home for seven years while Will served as the CHS youth pastor. He was ordained as an Anglican priest (Diocese of Christ our Hope) in 2020.
Early on in their marriage, while living in China, they realized they both have a deep love for bringing the gospel to those with little access to hearing it. In 2022, the Lord called them back to Asia, this time Cambodia, where they have been studying the language and starting an Anglican Church plant called Church of Christ Our Peace (CCOP Sen Sok).
Will is the head pastor of the English-speaking congregation, which serves expats who are living here in Cambodia. This includes English-speaking people from America, Australia, the UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, Norway, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and more! Their church plant in the city desires to hold Khmer and Mandarin speaking congreagations.
CCOP Sen Sok is in the process of making connections to various Khmer ministries here in Cambodia, including Young Life Cambodia (CAMBODIA Country Video on Vimeo), Phnom Penh Bible School, and a Khmer dorm ministry with low-income college students who come from the Cambodian countryside. The longer the McLaughlins live on the missionary field, the more they realize what a gift it is to have a sending church like Church of the Holy Spirit. They can only do the work they’re doing in Cambodia because of your generosity and prayers. Thank you for sending them, and giving them the opportunity to see the work God is doing here in South East Asia from front row seats.

THE CAIN FAMILY
Brooks and Riva Cain are based in Nagoya, Japan where they are seeking to serve the Asian Church in reaching the next generation. Toward that end, they host a city-wide youth group called “connect” in partnership with 10 other churches, which seeks to reach out to young people in their community. The Cains are also involved in training next-generation ministry leaders and encouraging them as they share the gospel with young people. Additionally, the Cains lead a team of folks who minister to missionary kids and families throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Their favorite role, however, is parenting the four amazing children that God has given to them – Quinn (11) Marley (9) John (6) and Charlie (2). Please pray for the Cains and their goal of “Reaching the Nations and the Next Generation.”
